KCK 2024 TUJUANE/ AMBASSADOR’S MEET AND GREET

 

On the 7th of July, 2024, the Kenya Community in Korea Executive Council held the community’s annual TUJUANE Event. The event provides a forum where all Kenyans within the Korean diaspora come together to know each other, have fun and share a meal during the onset of summer. This year’s event saw Kenyans from different regional chapters, brave the heavy rains to convene at Cheonan Football Center from 2PM to 7.30PM to enjoy the thrill that comes with TUJUANE. Kenya’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, H.E. Prof. Emmy Jerono Kipsoi was the Special Guest of Honour at the event. The Head of Mission was accompanied by members of Staff of the Mission, including the Consular Minister Dr. Donald Otieno, Second Secretary Mr. John Naitutai, and Ms. Lynnete Wakiuru.
The rainy Sunday afternoon featured Kenya through games and activities like football, egg and sack races, Tug of War, local music, and an interactive session among Kenyans and the ambassador. Addresses were delivered by the Chairpersons of the regional chapters, President of the Kenya Community in Korea, Wyckliffe Francis; as well as Ambassador Emmy Kipsoi.
In her remarks, Ambassador Emmy Kipsoi expressed appreciation for the effort by Kenyans across the Republic of Korea to organize themselves as one people with one agenda, even though they had settled in a ‘home away from home’. Sharing the clarion call for the Kenyan Community in Korea, (“Our Unity; Our Strength; Our Purpose”) Ambassador Emmy observed that these values are particularly essential as the world goes through very trying and difficult times, and that these values will underpin the successes of the Kenyan-Korea diaspora, and the entire world in the coming decades.
In his address, the KCK President, Mr. Wyckliffe Francis, highlighted the importance of reigniting the passion of KCK, to galvanize the members to contribute their time, skills, talents, and creativity to make KCK a great organization.
The event was also attended by leaders from the regional chapters including: Mr. Dave Jonah (Cheonan-Songtan); Mr. Michael Oyoo (Daegu); Ms. Joy Mworia; and the representatives from other chapters. During the interactive session, several other consular and welfare-related matters well discussed thoroughly.
